2024 QUAD VIDEO RECAP

It’s easy to feel like there are five of us here; our numbers are low compared to other action sports. Skateboarding, BMX, and even scooters have years of archived media online; the same does not ring true with quads. Despite how insular and behind it can feel, culturally aggressive quads are on the rise. Rollerskating is following suit of other action sports, carving out its own identity online as we see an explosion of media released this year. Not only are the boundaries of the sport pushed athletically, but also what can be done stylistically in skating and video editing. Watching it develop in real time is something special. So, in pursuit of knowledge and the celebration of 2024, I decided to scour the internet in search of every individual part and team edit uploaded to YouTube this year and write a little something about them in chronological order. Before you get ravenous, there will not be ranking, tea, critique, or anything like that, only positive stuff. I’d like to get serious and talk about things from time to time on here, thanks for being along for the ride.

I originally wanted to publish this earlier than New Year’s Eve, but when I started this project, I thought, “What, there’s gotta be like 20 edits?” NOPE, on my count, 58 projects have made it onto the internet this year, perhaps more? I’m sure I missed at least one or eight. Please reach out if I missed you and would like your edit included. The beauty of this being digital means I can go back and make edits to this post. Maybe someday we’ll have so many parts released I feasibly could not do this count.

Cheers to 2025,

Sam, aka quadskatecowoby

Second Frost - 1/6/24

Featuring Pika, Dime, Alex, Yvanna, Tess, Mik, Noa, Alyssa, Aireale, Shayne, Maria, Arlethe, Kiana, and Allie. This team is full of skaters who range in strengths and specialties. At over 30 minutes long, this is a true “full-length street part,” a rarity among quads. With projects of this length, you can get a real sense of style from each of the skaters featured. Second Frost shows off the best crust America has to offer. Sad to see the Brain Freeze Wax team disband but happy it introduced me to some rad midwest skaters.

CSS Largometraje Chile - 1/22/24

A HUGE quad/inline release that almost fell under my radar, Calle Sin Salida is a full-length featuring Daniela Unzueta, Catalina Fierro, Malena Sibona, Moco, Luciana Arias, Javiera Contreras, Irina Lee, Arely Torres. Latin America continually blows me away with the number of talented street skaters they have in their midst. A true tastemaker and pioneer of the street, I’m glad I finally see their projects after being so underrepresented for so long.

FUNISHMENT: Katja Djukic Street Roller Skating Part - 1/24/24

Another purely street part Katja throws down on Europe's freaky street obstacles. Heavy rail action with an upbeat rock and roll vibe that keeps you glued to the screen for its just under 3-minute run time.

BACKWASH - Elise Koch - 1/26/24

Full of attitude and NYC style, Elise rolls onto the street scene with crunchy grinds and funny B roll. The inclusion of Kooky, Bowser, and Molly is a very cool choice, considering most if not all, street seshes are with friends. Backwash is the quintessential NY tape of quads. In just under four minutes, Elise shows her mastery of streets with smooth switch-ups and long grinds. Drop-In Podcast by Chuffed Skates nominated this part as one of the “Most Creative Edits of the Year.” and it earned that nom with its salt-n-pepa track and fresh visuals that make for a cohesive styling.

❇️🪲❇️ - 2/1/24

A difficult one to reference because of the name, Em’s (rollerchicken_) 2024 street part is a low-key three-minute, forty-five-second showing of their hard boot steeze in the northeast. Em’s part is a testament to the fact that style and creativity can make a low obstacle look cool.

Last Supper Skate Sessions: Puerto Rico - 2/2/24

The first 2024 video release of everyone's favorite rollerskate wheel company, The Puerto Rico Skate Sessions by Last Supper, is an excellent look into PR's geographic skate location. Three minutes of Caro, Chloe, Dani, Maez, and Desi tearing up some of the most colorful DIYs and vibey nighttime spots.

southern sissy - 2/7/24

Dirt’s 2024 southern sissy feels like a slice of life. A three-minute forty-six-second glimpse into their travels south made for no one but them: a feel-good watch that sets a vibe.

SENDER - 2/7/24

skooterbooters is new to me. However, I fucking love this energy. Rollerskates are inherently a little goofy, and I think it’s good to be reminded of that from time to time. SENDER is a really fun eight and a half minutes. It’s got jam flow, it’s got a double staircase battle, it’s got wooden quad clogs what more do you want?

Alli Tong | Moonshine UHMW Team Introduction | Rollerskating - 2/19/24

This short, one-minute, forty-five-second release holds weight as Alli Tong becomes one of the first quad skaters for Moonshine UHMW. The company added quads to its parts line alongside its usual inline wheels and hardware. Feature music from Mindforce; this high-energy street part shows off what Alli does best: switch-ups and clean grinds.

HANDMADE - Rock Star Bearings - 2/29/24

From the very lowkey RSB (rock star bearings) comes the nineteen-minute release: HANDMADE, a street tape made for their European tour featuring skaters Silvia Kambouridis, Jammalyn Flower, Kjatia Djukic, Miret Pelgrom, Desire Franco, Monize Borges, Maria Palenke, Mics, Daniela Gimenez, Tiara Marelis, Dagmar Oranje, and Lucia Dimango. HANDMADE is a longer watch, and while I think it needs to be watched through with intention. This release's fluid editing and overall chill vibe lends itself well to being a video played in a skate shop.

LABRYS - A Brunny Hardcore Rollerskate Production - 3/15/24

Brunny's Labry video drop clocks in at just under six minutes. It features Garry Manfroid, R. Crooks, and Moon Sun Witch skating transition and street. Promoting their new Labry trucks, this release shows that these trucks are tough yet buttery. With amazing music that's synced perfectly to the grinds and flips, this tape feels like a casual skate holiday with a small group of friends.

ALMA - A Rollerskating Street Part by Karolyna - 4/5/24

ALMA - A Rollerskating Street Part by Karolyna is three minutes and thirty-three seconds of skating that makes you want to go skate street. With a cool, effortless style, Karolyna understands that the line doesn’t end with one trick, often making lines where most would leave a make—excellent debut out of Mexico City.

Last Supper Solo Sessions ft. Angel "kidquad" Lopez - 4/7/24

Another little banger from Last Supper & Halftone Productions, Angel “Kid Quad,” shows off his technicality and Texas flair in this two-minute twenty-five-second street-ish sesh. A very cool “get to know the skater” type of drop from LS.

Kasut Roda – Roller Skating in Malaysia - 4/10/24

Featuring: Nadira (@nadira.sk8), Biesha (@killumeannothing), Uwais, Rai (@rollitrye), Anit (@anit_sk8), Eshter (@todoke_rolling), Aina (@aniahanikas), Lan, Abdul (@abdul_is_skaterskayee), Pale (@Palelee), Paan, Afiq (@iamsk8fiqing), Eric (@sekwester), Meera (@meerawr), Mar (@bukanfeminazi), Syifa (@syi.skates), Karina (@karinaretha), Ria (@flatshoestraveler), Aisyah (@knees.weak.arms.r.heavy), Sofia (@badd1etsyek), Rollerphoria (@rollerphoria), Kasut Roda is a project brought to life by Eric Perez. This almost fourteen-minute tape gives a peak into the aggressive skating of Malaysia. It’s a look into a scene that is underrepresented in quad culture. I’m also impressed by the amount of people featured, as my own community in the northeast US doen’t even have this many skaters. It truly feels like the start of something new for Southeast Asian skaters, and I can’t wait to see how these skaters and their scene progress in the next couple of years. Stick around until the end of the credits on this one; it has some solid street clips that capture the universal street sesh vibe and rare street doubles.

Dimitrina Krazhanova - “Breakthrough” - 4/16/24

In another Europe tape, Dimitrina cleanly skates the streets in this five-minute and forty-five-second run. It's a good watch if you’re studying up on hitting rails.

FANTOM - ISSUE 1 - 4/19/24

The Issue One video featuring Ivey Wohl, Dani Maldonado, Jenedy Bustamante, Dimitrina Krazhanova, Laila Shrimp, Kayla Klinkhammer, Lily Gonzalez, Barbie Patin, Megan Shaffer, Elise Koch, and Lauren Banksy is meant to be a companion piece to the first Fantom Magazine. The vibes ride high with an Amyl and The Sniffers track playing, a side tangent; Amyl is the new Bikini Kill of rollerskating, change my mind. They are the biggest names in the game, doing what they do best. Four minutes of well-edited and well-shot clips are undoubtedly a must-see.

Ivey/ Megan Pro Rockodyle Aus Tour - 4/29/24

Clocking in at a little over five minutes, we have Ivey Wohl and Megan Shaffer’s Australia tour video to promote their pro blocks from Brunny Hardcore. Alongside Megan and Ivey, Rose Crooks and Garry Manfroid act as their tour guides through the bush (I don't know, do Australians say that?). This high-energy and technical piece comes hot on the heels of the Fantom Issue One video, proving April 2024 a big release month for both Megan and Ivey.

Moco x Last Supper - Pro Wheel Street Part - 5/3/24

Moco and Last Supper are a match made in heaven. Moco’s unique style is evident both in the streets and on the editing timeline. At one point, the music stops, and Moco leaves us with crunchy skate ASMR, a great choice, considering this release is for her first set of pro wheels.

DAMAGED GOODS - a roller skating street edit by Lucy Russell -  5/10/24

A rare look into the street skating of Paris is the super fast-paced, DAMAGED GOODS. In under three minutes, Lucy proves they can hit some significant gaps, and crispy ledges with serious speed.

First Time Caller, Long Time Listener - 5/12/24

Now listen here: I like skateboarding and skateboarders; however, you will never catch me writing about specific skateboarders here. First Time Caller, Long Time Listener is here for one reason and one reason only: Stevi Lukacz. Stevi clears some pretty big Philly gaps In her featured clips. Her inclusion in this is a step in the right direction as quads become more accepted and visible to other action sports.

Sophie Joseph Street Roller Skating Video 5/13/24

This is a hidden gem. This almost three-minute street part from Sophie (@plantbbaby) is really nicely done. Not sure if it’s the Bright Eyes song playing over this or the fall foliage in the clips but there is a certain cozy quality to this. The ender is also just done so gracefully. Hope to see more from Sophie in the future.

Just for Kicks 6/1/24

Just for Kicks is Joy’s (@squidhair) debut skate part, full of full send spins. With a spinny, identifiable style, Joy does it all. This super dynamic five-minute part shows vert, bowls, pool coping, street, park, and even a ditch. This dizzying release is a great addition to the rotation; ah, see what I did there?

IT'S TIME Black Kismet is OUT NOW - 6/4/24

No stranger to rollerskating, Barbie is giving international super spy in this short two-minute release. Barbie skates fast and with style to promote her new Black Kismet colorway from Chaya and continues to prove herself worthy of pro skates status.

Voyager: A Roller Skating Part - 6/12/24

Hitting some classic and crazy spots that we can come to expect from a Barcelona edit, Marian takes to the streets in this four-minute forty-one-second street part. With extremely steezy manuals to gap, Marian shows the control and precision of someone who has skated for years.

Abuelas Sobre Ruedas - Event - 6/19/24

Ok, I was on the fence if this counted as an edit; it’s certainly not a part. However, it is an edited piece and at three minutes and thirty-nine seconds, it’s longer than some individual parts on here (no shade). It counts; it’s also a bunch of quad skaters ripping a Barcelona skatepark while dressed as grandmothers with a Le Tigre playing? So it goes. I see the vision, and we need more event tapes like this.

Filme Nicht Mein Hund / Don't Film My Dog - 7/7/24

A cool look into Eastern Europe, Filme Nicht Mein Hund, or Don't Film My Dog, is a gritty four-minute tape featuring Gabrysia Leśniewska and Miley. It feels like a travel tape, and it has some nice crunch. I think every crust skater yearns for the DIY shown toward the end of the tape.

Last Supper Skate Sessions: ft. Desi (@desidoris) - 7/7/24

Another quick part for Last Supper: Desi skates Puerto Rico in Moco’s new pro wheel. In its less than a two-minute run time, Desi proves this is an all-around wheel with potential for bowl flow as well as buttery street slides. I really enjoy this session's series LS has going on; every skater they feature has been a breath of fresh air in a sea of familiar names.

Wonderful Bloom - Nikki Moore - 7/27/24

Another debut, this one from up-and-comer Nikki Moore. Wonderful Bloom is a chill three minute journey edited in this grainy yet colorful film vibe that’s very soothing and pleasing to the eye. Nikki herself has this effortless, clean style and joyful spirit that lends well to this pacing, creating this whole dreamy production.

DIVA DOWN | A Tampa quad skating video - 8/2/24

This came onto my radar from my friend Joanna; shout out, Joanna. Clocking in at 20 minutes, this is the kind of charm and 100% Handycam-ness you want to see from a crew. Upbeat, genuine, and fun, DIVA DOWN features Maddie Alkire, Zuri Moultrie, Jessie Edwards, Madison Martin, Ava Kile, and Tatum Rickard. With tons of personality, this tape is a hidden gem among the ranks of full-lengths. Maddie’s ender is stunning, and Zuri’s ability to skate narrow truck beach bunnies with so much style is amazing. Jessie, Madison, and Ava have a solid middle section to the tape that brings silliness and relatability to the project full of transition and street fisheye clips. To cap off the tape, Tate has a part full of personality and big sends. Even the credits are full of bails full of authenticity missing from big production tapes. Diva Down is a solid contender for one of my personal favorites of the year.

FANTOM - ISSUE 2 - 8/29/24

A short companion piece for Fantom Issue no. 2 magazine, this one-minute, twenty-four-second video of the same name certainly fits the witch theme. Featuring Mya Baxter, Alli Tong, Megan Shaffer, Morgann, and Kristell Funes, the issue 2 video mixes things up a bit. It seems that with each new magazine release, Fantom is broadening its horizons as far as what skaters are being featured, which is nice to see. I know it’s a magazine company, but I enjoy the digital side of Fantom.

the glizzy wizard - 9/5/24

An ode to the polarizing Hot Dog grind, The Glizzy Wizard is a super low-key edit featuring Bantam and Dirt. It’s an honest tape about having fun with your bud, shot and edited in Dirt's signature style, that feels very slice-of-life.

HIT THE ROAD - Silvia Kambouridis - 9/6/24

Silvia has this stunning quality of having her personal and artistic style match their skating style, and it’s been a joy to witness over the past couple of years. The first shot is them spinning, setting the tone for the seven-minute run time. HIT THE ROAD is full of spins, manuals, and the crazy smooth flow that Silvia is known for. With this release they a nomination for “Most Creative Edit of the Year.” by Drop In Podcast from Chuffed Skates

BROODXIX - MUD SMITH - 9/12/24

Mud’s first venture into the street is one of the year's best tapes. Pushing the sport to its limits, Mud is an incredible skater with a very identifiable style on skates, visuals, and editing. In under 5 minutes, Mud proves you can jump that high and don’t need toe stops. Sticking around til the ender on this one is a must. A contender in the “Most Creative Edit of the Year.” running from Drop-In Podcast by Chuffed Skates, I can’t wait to see what they do next.

Cruise Control - A Roller Skating Film - 9/13/24

With incredibly cinematic filming that earned them a win for “Most Creative Edit of the Year.” from Drop In Podcast by Chuffed Skates, Miret Pelgrom rolls up with Cruise Control. This jaunt across the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, and Belgium makes me hungry for European street features, particularly those tiny pole jams. With a tasteful split between uber-clean cinematics and traditional fish eye, this six-minute, twenty-five-second run is a visual feast for the eyes and really gets the pacing right.

Riedell & Antik - Currents - 9/20/24

Riedell’s first venture into edits! Obviously, Riedell has acknowledged aggressive skating in the past but never to this scale. With their 2024 team featuring Amber Hayes, Katja Djukič, Loren Kaplan Mutch, Rae Loos, Kay Zhou, Silvia Kambouridis, Rose Carbonell, Pocket, Octane Jane, and Asia Cruz, we see a complete and well-rounded aggressive team. With a 10-minute run time, this mid-length release has a little something for everyone. Amber opens this tape with steeze, and Asia closes out the video with a well-deliver ender.

Rampzalig quad skating community 2024 - 9/20/24

From Ghent, Belgium, we have Rampzalig. This isn’t a tape that is one specific person’s but a community effort and showcase of their own Asfalt Festival. The first half of the edit starts as a street tape with intercut still photography that I would love to see as a set. The 2nd part is mostly park and transition, showing big wins, coaching, and even a really good bit involving a scooter flip. The last few minutes explore jam skating, something we don’t typically see in aggressive edits, but given this was a community event, it gets a pass.

Ragnaroll - DON'T LOOK BACK 9/24/24

The first Ragnaroll release of the year is DON'T LOOK BACK. It has a classic rock vintage vibe that is synonymous with Ragna’s personal style. The way he is able to hold grinds and execute the most precise toe-stop tricks really stands out during the parts just shy of a 4-minute run time. A bittersweet, meaningful video where Ranga bids farewell to his previous pro model and partnership with Chaya. Although we all know he’ll come back stronger than ever.

Summer Breakers - A Midwest Skate Tour - 10/1/2024

I love Midwest tapes. This one from dynamic duo Aaron Langerman (@aaron-out-da-bowl) and Kay Zhou (@hairlesstomato) is fun. I'm a big fan of how the map is incorporated into this regional skate tour vibe. Spring Breakers feels like a six-minute journey with changing scenery and surprise friends we made along the way. Although some transition skating is in Summer Breakers, the rail and ledge work shines through.

LUCID DAYDREAMS - Asia Cruz - 10/1/24

You might recognize this as Asia Cruz’s part for the Riedell & Antik 2024 release, Currents. I completely understand posting your part from a team edit as a stand-alone, especially one of this length. For four and a half minutes, Asia skates LA street, and she does it well. It is interesting how editing in the Riedell release and this release are different and create different vibes. This version of the tape is more groovy and funky with Al Green’s Take Me To The River playing, while the Riedell version was more 80’s new wavey to a more Scott Pilgrim-type beat punk, all a good vibe in their own way, just different. A testament to the power of editing. Regardless of what version you watch, Asia is an underrated skater with so much style and joy for skating that it’s infectious.

Sela Video Part x Coop.Omnibus - 10/4/24

From Argentina comes Sela Video Part x Coop.Omnibus featuring Selena Dafne Balías (@sela.selenaa). This has an almost R&B vibe with a Genisis track playing. It's definitely a chill vibe for its five-and-a-half-minute run time. Sela is a fast skater with the great street steeze Latin America is famous for.

︵‿︵‿୨ ♡Nos vemos pronto♡ ୧‿︵‿︵ - 10/6/24

The shortest release from @callesinsalida this year, Nos vemos pronto, is a little over 5 minutes of what feels like not just a skate edit but a dreamy nostalgia-filled art piece. With plenty of hill bombing and grinds of some really unique street features, this is a piece that just oozes coolness.

CARNE Y PIEDRA - 10/13/24

At fifteen minutes, CARNE Y PIEDRA starts as a slow burn, but once it kicks in, it’s a banger after banger group tape. Where the tape does slow down and show progress and process on a street spot is really nice for the pacing of a longer edit like this. It gives the whole project a more human touch. It's a really great mid-length video release.

Soaker – Echo - 10/18/24

This two-minute banger by Echo (@echo.is.a.rider) kicks off the street part with some crispy skate asmr. From there, Echo skates a great ledge game and throws some steezy mannys. The fountain Mizou clip is a cool addition to this really fun project

Saturns Return - Rose Smith-Woollams - 10/24/24

It's been a huge year for Chuffed in video releases, as this kicks off a crazy quick series of video drops from the brand. Up first is Rose Smith-Woollams with her ten-minute solo tape. Rose has a part I really connect to, from the music to the obstacles she is skating to the fact that I just went through my own Saturn Return. Rose’s clip volume is impressive; even the credits feel thoughtful and worth watching. It is one of my favorites and was also nominated by Drop-In Podcast for “Most Creative Edit of the Year.”

Honorable Mention: Rose also had a small part in the "MACARONI TIME" FULL LENGTH. It’s a whole lotta skateboarding and a really cool collective vibe.

SAUCE IT UP! Ragnaroll on Chuffed Skates - 10/28/24

Quad legend Ragnaroll's second release this year is SAUCE IT UP!, an ambitious tape filled with just under five minutes of buttery grinds and big jumps. With some amazing camera work and cohesive graphics, this street edit is one of the year's more technical releases. With a clear and clean vision, it makes sense why it was nominated for Chuffed’s Most Creative Edit award.

Lanna Thornhill - Chuffed Skates Pro Boot Edit -  11/1/24

Canada’s first pro quad skater with a pro boot, Lana Thornhill, shows us a bit of everything in three minutes and seventeen seconds. From transition skating to hill bombing and some proper grinds, this tape has the classic B-52’s sound that fits perfectly into rollerskating.

happy to be here - 11/9/24

A super fun tape five minute tape, happy to be here by @lilmamaskatie, is exactly what it sounds like: an honest edit made with friends. The vibes are upbeat, the tricks are relatable, and it’s got this incredible Midwest honesty that you can only get from places like Detroit, Michigan. All that to say, Katie has a killer street game, and watching her makes me want to go skate a crusty ledge with my friends.

Road Rash: A Roller Skate Street edit -11/10/24

Another Midwest release that feels like it could be a sister tape to Happy to Be Here, Road Rash is Ashlen’s (@roadrashy) take on a street part. This is a really special video because it showcases a level of skating that is hardly celebrated despite being where most of us are. It’s sick to watch someone joyfully do something and be inspired in a realistic way. It's well worth its under 7-minute run time.

"Jet Boost" Jack Rees - Last Supper Roller Skate Edit - 11/10/24

Another Half Tone Productions x Last Supper joint, Jet Boost, featuring Jack Rees, shows off Last Supper’s signature Texas flare despite the skater being from the UK. I think that goes to show the power of editing, style, and the character a place can have in its streets. Jack handles the Texas crunch with flawless technique and is a clean skater through and through. If you’re looking for a cowboy vibe, this four minutes and thirty-five seconds is the one for you.

Streets Volume 3 – A roller skating film - 11/22/24

Featuring 15 skaters (@bela.quad @camiipaoli @chiqu.i @_dayofwar_ @fiona_stefania @como1koala @ei.kei.ei.aguamaga @jumpingfrog137 @6ley6 @marcianu___ @monizemoka @rotmmi @tania.salinas.77 @tikibooma @loopez.v @wezna.rsk8) across 4 different locations, Streets Vol. 3 is six minutes of pure street. It’s an edit full of skate architecture you just do not find in the States, as we get clips from Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Paris, and Saint-Denis. Filmed and edited by Mariana Isa, Streets Vol. 3 feels less like an edit that’s meant to have defined parts, but more like a love letter to the art of street skating itself. With a classic hill bomb ender, this one doesn’t disappoint.

For The Next Generation - The Moxi Skate Team - 11/24/24

From longtime industry staple Moxi comes For The Next Generation, a long-awaited team tape. This twelve-minute edit marks a new era for Moxi as they briefly stepped away from a skate team and, in turn, edits in that post-pandemic comedown. But they are back and featuring a whopping 19 skaters (@bigb00tysk8rgrl @lil_miss_fiasco @spicyivey @noodlewithskates @klinkh4mmer @hayes_lee_skates @kid_ace @kid.quad @evelyn.ivyy @estrojen @moc.o @luzalen @squidneynation @bruized @moxi_mia_sk8 @pushylongstocking @lilyrskatesz @meganshaffe @hurt_cobainn) this teams strength is it’s diversity in style and technicality. The range of specialties and levels of ability brought to the piece makes for an interesting watch as it allows everyone's specific style to pop. With a feel-good message about ushering in the next generation of skaters it certainly aligns with Moxi’s branding. Moco’s ender is very sick; I’m from Buffalo, so you know I always appreciate a table being used inappropriately (go bills).

Aylu - Impacto - Dec 7th

With a doom metal vibe, Aylu’s Impacto is a solid 4-minute part added to Fantom’s growing media catalog. Shot in the skate mecca of Barcelona, Aylu skates the city super stylishly with long lines strung together by flawless mannys. Filmed by Fabricio Abreu and edited by DRSK / Zowi, this has a real skateboard feel to it (I mean it in a good way). The gap battle towards the end of the film is glorious and exactly what I want to see from more edits.

"Outskirts" - Kayla Klinkhammer

A film by Tony Rivituso and Carter LeBlanc, Outskirts is a mixed-action sports tape featuring inlines, skateboard, and quad. These kinds of projects are cool as they display a realistic mixed scene. That being said, I’m talking quads here and only quads. Let's talk about outskirt-featured quad skater Kayla Klinkhammer. Kayla has an insanely clean ledge game, and I’ve been a huge fan of her street skating for a while. This 10-minute street tape is truly a group tape as each skater's lines and tricks are seamlessly put together, giving us a look into a really rad mixed discipline group of friends.

DRSK x CAROLA - Dec 16, 2024

This edit featuring Carola Tebay, filmed by Feed The Filmer and edited by Zoe Gonzalez / DRSK, is full of heshy, gritty goodness. The 5 minute part feels like a skateboard part from the early 2000s, again in a good way. With a huge send-it attitude, Carola is the street skater; with baggy pants, big slams, night shots, and a Lil Kim track playing, her style and grit fit right in under the Fantom name.

One More Time – Skating in the Streets of Kuala Lumpur - Dec 22, 2024

Debuting his first street part, Abdul Mughni bin Dzulkarnain (@abdul_is_escaping) skates the streets of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in One More Time, filmed and edited by Eric Perez (@sekwesterfilms) and released by DogDays Mag. Kuala Lumpur has some stunning un-capped marble ledges and big fat flat bars. Abdul answers that skate infrastructure with some sick combos and big gaps, hitting some tall obstacles with speed it’s a debut to be super proud of. Hope to see more coming out of Kuala Lumpur!

Way Back East - 12/22/24

As you’ve probably heard, skate legend Estro Jen has a new street part. Filmed by FP Insoles in China and Japan and edited by Estro herself, Way Back East is a unique blend of style and athleticism that only Estro can pull off. The phone-in-hand opening backflip is an iconic trick, and Estro is a fast skater, making the four minutes and some change look that much more impressive. This is uncharted territory as far as rollerskate edits go; as someone who has watched A LOT of rollerskate edits, this is the first I’ve seen street skate architecture in Eastern Asia. Stylistically, I love how there is no ender; instead, it's a bunch of bails, jams, and slams. I feel like there is a lot of pressure to do something big, and it’s cool to see a deviation from that.

"La vida es lo que sucede cuando estas ocupado haciendo otros planes" Desi X Omnibus - 12/24/24

Last but certainly not least. We have "La vida es lo que sucede cuando estas ocupado haciendo otros planes" by Desi X Omnibus. The title for my fellow English speakers roughly translates to “life is what happens when you're busy making other plans” and clocks in at a little over 6 minutes. Playing us in with some super zen pretty vibes, Desi herself plays what I believe to be some sort of harp. What follows is some stylish Argentinian crunch. Shot with gorgeous handy-cam follows Desi skates a fast street game juxtaposed a chill 70’s type beat. It all works so well as a release and the ender is a unique one.

DOCEDOCE - Danny Mota - 12/30/24

This one almost snuck past me if not for Shan from Last Supper putting it on my radar. Rolling out of Mexico, Danny is a skater I think a lot of us can see ourselves in. In four minutes and thirty-eight seconds, she pulls out some nice ledge grinds and big gaps. The celebration and stoke she has for her own skating is so nice to see, as sometimes skaters get way too serious about it and express no joy after a sick trick. To see the joy Danny has for this makes the project so genuine. DOCEDOCE also provides a look into Mexican style street, something I hope to see more often. With a classic hill bomb ender, this is a really inspiring one to go out on for the year. “Maybe I’ll have one of my own someday.”
